Come visit us on this years Basel Art Fairs where we prepare a unique live painting appearance on the inernational art circus. Six artists (Nomad, Xoooox, Katrin Fridriks, Anton Unai, Jaybo Monk, Marco “Pho” Grassi) will overtake a huge wall on the backside of the industrial fair site situated directly on abandoned railway tracks. An urban surrounding which reminds the spirit of graffiti culture, the beatniks and the drifters, travelling artists and street philosophers. The artists will be painting and installing ongoing during the first and second day of the fair as well as partially until the last day. Being an official highlight of the Volta Basel Art Fair 2010 this appearance will innovate the boundaries of the traditional fair booth presentation and deliver to the public a hard to get live experience with some of the most talented urban artists in Europe.

A little while ago, Interview magazine managed to organize a conversation between KAWS and L.A. based actor Tobey Maguire. The result is an interesting protocol that gives insight into the artist’s inspirations, the reltion between sculptures and paintings, an appreciated japanese fan base and the non-referral to political statements. Following the tradition of the literature and art salons of the early 20th century Circleculture prepares an art show escaping the traditional white cube atmosphere of todays galleries and museums. Sofas, carpets, lampshades, books, coffee and many well selected smaller works create a communicative atmosphere hailing art works by artists from the international urban art scene…

“Zerstückelte Buchstaben, Zeichenruinen und archaische Grundformen erstellen zwischenräumliche Bildzusammenhänge”
Im Zentrum der Ausstellung stehen Zeichnungen, die in einem kollektiven Arbeitsprozess entstanden sind. Linien und Schwünge zeugen vom Austausch der Gruppe, ihrer Verständigung auf dem Papier, um ein gemeinsames Ganzes zu schaffen. Es sind Momentaufnahmen eines kollektiven Schaffensprozesses, der alternative Wege der Kunstproduktion erprobt und bisher zu keinem abschließenden Ergebnis kam.
Im Wechselspiel aus Improvisation und gezielter Einflussnahme ergänzen und überlagern sich Informationsschichten, erweitern oder zerstören das Vorgefundene. Denn die Zeichnungen sind zugleich auch die Niederschrift des parallelen Gesprächs ihrer Autoren und können deren individuelle Handschriften und Herkunft nicht verleugnen.

Die Ausstellung, die bis zum 4. Juni 2010geht, zeigt Werke der folgenden Künstler: Dez 78, Dtagno, Markus Mai, Osif Seiksuh, P. Vector Codierer und Tryone.
Die Vernissage findet am kommenden Freitag, den 21. Mai um 19 Uhr im Senatsreservenspeicher in der Cuvrystr. 3 - 4 statt. Mehr Infos gibts bei Artitu.de.
